1961 - 1981

The INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC ACADEMY was created in Greece in 1961.
The IOA celebrated with a special 20th Anniversary event in the summer of 1981.

The United States Olympic Committee selected five delegates plus a delegation leader
to represent the USA at this gathering in Athens and Olympia, Greece.
It was a special event because of the timing - one of the first
international Olympic events following the MOSCOW 1980 Olympic Games.

I created this page in 2021 to honor the IOA, the American delegation
and the 150+ participants that met that summer.
